You never know what you will find when you are out shooting landscapes. I do not go out seeking animals, but when I run across one, I certainly take the time to get an image. This was one of those times. This little guy is from Badlands National Park. We saw him moving around, and I wanted him to walk over to this ledge, because the light on the ledge was great, the back was darker and I knew he would be in the light. Sure enough, just a matter of time. I did not have to make any sound to get him to look, he did that all on his own. He was with a bunch of others, but they all had these ugly radio colors on. Not this guy. Snap.
As kind of a second part to the story, this was in a national park and national parks bring out all kinds of folks. I was shooting this from the side of the road trying to be as quiet as possible so that I could actually get a picture of this cute fella and not have them scamper off. and a few other people stopped and pulled out cameras and they were respectful. and then comes the other person who visits national Parks. This RV pulled up it was playing music out loud and I’m not being sarcastic here they had like 10 American flags waving outside their car one of which was massive and making a ton of noise when it waved in the wind. They stopped in the middle of the road and the whole family got out and came over and we’re virtually screaming about this animal. Epically rude from every possible perspective. Naturally, the entire team of mountain climbing beauties ran off. Not cool. Tranquility lost.
